Hidden Paradise and The National

February’s first weekend was spent with a blast. I was with my CMSC 142 class on our midterm outing in Hidden Paradise. Hidden Paradise is a mountain resort located in San Fernando, Cebu. It’s roughly 1.5 hours away from the city but that’s just a wild estimate since I never really tracked the time of travel. hrhr.

Pictures!

The trip was more fun than I anticipated it to be. I usually feel qualms the night before any party or gathering with people that I’m not close with. I worry about not knowing the right things to say or making situations awkward with my presence. I anticipate the worst and always imagine myself to be gawky and timid all throughout but it wasn’t at all like that. The games probably helped a lot in calming down my nerves and I was able to mingle with people in a socially acceptable way. hehehe.

It was really tiring though but the day ended pretty well in general. I had late dinner with my boyfriend in Tandoori (best Persian restaurant EVER) and all is cool that ends cool.

THIS DAY IN MUSIC:
Check out The National, you guys. They’re awesome.

I’ve been listening to this album since the day I got it and I’m hooked. There’s no song in this album that’s bad. For starters, you might want to check out Fake Empire, there’s a video of them performing it live on the David Letterman show. If you like Interpol, Joy Division and Pupil, you’ll probably like ‘em too.

Hi. This girl, Carina, whom I follow on tumblr made a mix for a lonely February. I started the month with loneliness and anger (but mostly anger) and I felt this mixtape was appropriate. And because I suck and have no originality whatsoever, I’m reposting her mix.

  2. Glue Girls • Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin
  3. I Don’t Want to Walk Around Alone No More • The Lucksmiths
  4. The Lonely 1 • Wilco
  5. I Am a Lonesome Hobo • Bob Dylan
  6. So Come Back, I Am Waiting • Okkervil River
  7. Owner of a Lonely Heart • Grizzly Bear (Yes cover)
  8. How Fucking Romantic • The Magnetic Fields
  9. I Am Leaving You Because I Don’t Love You • Jens Lekman
  10. Loneliness is Not Better When You’re Alone • Hello Saferide
  11. Lonely Lonely • Feist
  12. Don’t I Hold You? • Wheat
  13. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight • The Postal Service
  14. In the Cinema Alone • Memphis
  15. Skeleton Jar • Youth Group
  16. Romantic Comedy • Stars
  17. Your Heart is an Empty Room • Death Cab for Cutie
  18. Motorcycle Drive By • Third Eye Blind
  19. I Always Knew • Tilly and the Wall
  20. So Long, Lonesome • explosions in the sky

You can download the zipped file here. I have most of the songs even before it was compiled and they’re beautiful.

Follow Carina on tumblr here and this is her blog. She’s likes tea!

Gah. I really need to fall asleep way before 12. Tomorrow’s gonna be a busy day and my calendar’s jampacked with stuff. Good night, internet.

The Beatles

I’m Only Sleeping is a site dedicated to posting Beatles photos and artworks and it’s awesome I tell you. Maggie is publishing 100 Beatles-inspired postcards and I just thought it’d be great to post some (or all!) of them here. The one above is obviously the first.

She compiled everything in a 3000 by 3000 pixels image with a high 300 PPI resolution. You can download it here. It’s perfect for a poster which I hope to be printed for my birthday on March. It’s gonna be really awesome but you can make it even MORE rad by printing it as a birthday present for me. hrhrhr.
